Welcome to the Portfolio update of May 2020. A bit of recovery on all fronts, Net worth looks better again (partly because I adjusted the applied exchange rates for USD and EUR assets). And Savings Rate beyond 60% which is awesome as it was a regular income month.

Let’s see how the the P2P Portfolio performed.

Post series: Technical Reviews

As previously announced I will start a post series with a technical review/analysis of the different platforms. You will be able to find them at the Technical Reviews page.

This is the list of the areas I will look into:

  • Bad Press: do other bloggers write negatively about the platform?
  • Owners/Team public: are the owners or the people working at a platform discoverable?
  • Company records: does the company have publicly available records in a business register or similar?
  • Technological Analysis
    • Webhoster: Is the page hosted on a known cloud or by some other company?
    • DNS Records: Are the DNS records public and pointing to the same registered address?
    • Available in origin country: Is the platform available for local investors?
  • Verdict: Given the information I found, is the platform likely to be a fraud/scam?

Second round: Investing another 30k EUR in different P2P Lending platforms

After creating my P2P portfolio with 30k EUR in the beginning of January, it’s time to document the second round.

This time around I invested 29.7k EUR (or 31.7k CHF thanks to the free conversion fees from Revolut) in 11 platforms which I personally think have a higher chance of being legit. After loosing 2 000 EUR with the sudden disappearance of Envestio I selected the platforms a bit more carefully.

Envestio vanished – Wisefund next?

So it looks like the collapse of Kuetzal triggered some kind of Bank run. The Envestio website is currently not reachable. After some very unprofessional Twitter duelling with a apparent industry insider RPeerDuck (Twitter profile deleted now due to death threats). Are my 2’006 € from Envestio gone then? Very likely. I have yet to filed a Police report with the Estonian Police.

The last message posted on Tuesday the 21st of January 2020 from Envestio :
